    Registered Nurse - Oncology/Bone Marrow Transplant Unit

     

    MedTrust has available opportunities for experienced Registered Nurses at the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit.

    Position Type:

    • Full time 36 - 40 hours
    • Full benefits package
    • Caring for the Military Population
    • Experienced Oncology Nurse will be expected to complete ONS course, once hired - unit provides.

     

    The Bone Marrow Transplant Unit is located on the 5th floor of the consolidated tower at the Army's Premier Hospital:

    • San Antonio Military Medical Center
    • Level 1 Trauma center
    • 10 bed unit
    • Inpatient & Outpatient Oncology & BMT Unit

    Responsibilities

    RN Duties:
    The Oncology/BMT RN is to manage care of oncology patients through administration of chemotherapy, blood products, biologic therapy and cancer support therapies, administering/monitoring infusion of bone marrow and peripheral stem cells. Treatment is primarily provided to adult patients, although the unit does receive pediatric and overflow patients on occasion. RN must use strict neutropenic precautions on immuno-compromised patients who are receiving prophylactic antibiotic therapies.  Manage multiple types of central catheters; PICCS, implanted ports, tunneled catheters and aphaeresis catheters.

    RN duties can include but are not limited to the following; team lead, charge nurse, precept, orientate, rapid response and other tasks as needed.  

    Qualifications

    RN Requirements:
    Must have one of the following: ADN, ASN, BSN or MSN degree from an accredited nursing program
    Valid Registered Nursing license from any US jurisdiction
    BLS & ACLS Certification through AHA

    Complete the ONS training provided at SAMMC


    *1 year Oncology or Bone Marrow Transplant RN experience and 2 years of Med/Surg experience preferred*
