    We are currently accepting resumes for Exercise Physiologist to provide medical services at the Department of Defense Military Health System (MHS), JBSA Lackland, in San Antonio, TX area in anticipation of an upcoming government contract award.

     

    VIPER Sports Medicine Clinic, JBSA Lackland

    Monday through Friday, 0600-1800

    Limited staff on Saturdays and Sundays, 0600-1600

    Responsibilities

    •  Assess the fitness level of the population as defined in the TO using sound epidemiological principles. Use evidenced based exercise and behavior change theories to develop, coordinate, implement, conduct, track and evaluate a comprehensive fitness program aimed at fitness improvement and disease intervention and prevention.
    •  Administer fitness assessments, counseling, prescriptions and, medical exercise/post rehabilitation fitness programs, functional screenings, disease management, preventative services and various other health and fitness programs and activities that meet the community needs.
    •  Design, develop and establish appropriate administrative and management systems, procedures and policies to ensure the highest professional level of fitness programming within the community.
    •  Provide health education expertise, consultancy and advocacy to support a comprehensive fitness program.
    •  Perform unit fitness quality checks and/or staff assistant visits as needed.
    •  Use assessment results and evidenced-based exercise and behavior change theories to plan comprehensive, integrated and effective fitness programs.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree
    • Certified Exercise Physiologist from the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM); Automated Eternal Defibrillator (AED) certification.
    • Possess at least one of the following certifications: a) Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), or b) Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified through the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association.
    • One year of experience as an Exercise Physiologist after graduation.
    • Five or more years of experience with performing running gait analysis and gait training in a military, collegiate, and/or professional practice setting is required.
    • In-person Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, as accepted by the American Heart Association (AHA), (Healthcare Providers for clinical providers) or by the American Red Cross, is required. Online courses are not acceptable to meet the BLS requirement.
