Primary Care Outpatient Clinic for the NICoE, Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Bethesda, MD!

 

 

The National Intrepid Center of Excellence (NICoE) is a new Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) treatment center for military at Walter Reed. NICoE offers a holistic approach of treatment options for our nation's heroes to include Primary Care, Intensive Outpatient Programs, Computer based training tools to help patients learn & develop healthy brain habits, improving short term memory, focus and decision making skills!

 

This MD/DO is full time in an outpatient setting with no nights, weekends, federal holiday or on-call requirements!

Responsibilities

  • Perform a full range of physician services in accordance with privileges granted by the MTF, as a Primary Care of Family Physician on an interdisciplinary evaluation team; and provides treatment planning for warriors and beneficiaries with mild TBI and psychological health (PH) health issues.
  • Conducts the initial medical intake evaluation, provides medical oversight for the beneficiaries, and works with referring providers at the patient's home town to coordinate long term and follow-on treatment plan.
  • Coordinates with the care team, discusses matters pertaining to personnel, prioritization of projects and equipment, clinic policies and any phase of the clinical service program connected to TBI or PH evaluation, research and treatment planning.
  • Examine, diagnose, treat or prescribe courses of treatment within the scope of training, experience, and privileges.
  • Provide preventive and health maintenance care, including annual physicals, positive health behaviors, and self-care skills through education and counseling.
  • Order diagnostic tests as applicable as well as request consultation or referral with appropriate physicians, clinics, or other health resources as indicated.
  • Technically proficient in directing and teaching other medical staff, providing educational lectures and participating in the provision of in-service training to clinic staff members. Such direction and interaction will adhere to Government and professional clinical standards and accepted clinical protocols.
  • Serve as physician liaison to a referral management coordination call center, in support of care allocation for clinical referrals.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Degree/Education: Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.). Graduate from an accredited medical school in the United States or Canada. A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school must provide education and medical knowledge substantially equivalent to accredited schools in the United States and a CGFNS report to confirm. 
  • Residency: Successful completion of a residency program in Primary Care or Family Medicine
  • Internship: Successful completion of program with broadly based clinical practice 
  •  Board certified in Primary Care or Family Medicine
  • Experience: At least two years of experience providing direct patient care in a clinical setting within the past five years with privileges in primary care or family medicine.
  • Licensure/Registration: A current, valid, unrestricted medical license from any US jurisdiction
  • Current certification for Basic Life Support (BLS)
